Day 01: AIRPORT – COLOMBO

Arrival at Sri Lanka. You will be Welcomed by Pintail Tour representative on arrival at the

Airport.

Colombo which is the largest city and former administrative capital of Sri Lanka. It is a busy and vibrant city inculcating both modern life and remnants of a bygone colonial era. Due to its large harbor and its strategic position along the East-West sea trade routes, Colombo was known to ancient traders 2,000 years ago. However, it was only made the Capital of the island when Sri Lanka was ceded to the British Empire in 1815. The main city is home to a majority of the Sri Lanka’s offices, restaurants, and entertainment venues. On this tour, you will visit many of the historical, religious and commercial sites of Colombo including the historic and bustling Fort and Pettah, the elite residential Cinnamon Gardens, the Galle Face Green, Viharamahadevi Park, and much more. Thereafter transfer to Colombo. Afternoon Free for Colombo city tour and shopping. Dinner & over nigh stay in Colombo.

Day 02: COLOMBO – ANURADHAPURA – SIGIRIYA

After Breakfast proceed to Sacred city of Anuradhapura . Commence sightseeing at Anuradhapura including visit to Aluvihara Temple, Aukana Buddha. Thereafter proceed to Dambulla /Habaranna .Dinner & over night stay in Habaranna /Sigiriya.

Day 03: SIGIRIY

After breakfast visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

Thereafter excursion to Polonnaruwa. Dinner & over night stay in Habaranna / Sigiriya

Day 04: SIGIRIYA – KANDY

After breakfast proceed to Royal city of Kandy.

Dambulla Rock Temple and a Spice Garden in Matale. Climb up to the Dambulla rock temple, which was donated by king Walagambahu in the 1st century B.C. to Buddhist monks. Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka’s cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. metres of painted walls and ceilings is the largest area of paintings found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 metres. Visit a spice garden to see the different spices, which Sri Lanka is famous for. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed.

In the afternoon, do a city tour of Kandy. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings, which is a world heritage site. The name Kandy conjures visions of splendour and magnificence. Many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive. Drive around the Kandy Lake built by the last Sinhala king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798. Visit the Kandy town and Bazaar, the arts & crafts centre and a gem lapidary.

En route visit the The Golden temple of Dambulla [Dambulla cave temple] a Spice Garden and a Batik Factory in Matale. Dinner & Overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 05: KANDY

After Breakfast Enroute optional visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. The elephant orphanage at Pinnawala is a home for about 60 elephants (out of which some are baby elephants) found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. They are being cared, fed and trained by the Wildlife Authority. You could also accompany the elephants to a river close by to see them having their daily baths. Afternoon commence city tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square and the Home to sacred relic of the tooth of the Buddha Temple [Dalada Maligawa], a Gem Museum & a Craft centre. Evening view a cultural show featuring various dance types of Sri Lanka. Dinner & over night stay in Kandy.

Day 06: KANDY – NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast proceed for Sightseen

Nuwara Eliya: Nuwara Eliya is invigorating mountain climate and scenery, is Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country producing a significant share of the world s best tea. Sri Lanka’s highest mountain Pidurutalagala (8282 feet) is located here. One of the finest 18 hole golf courses available in South Asia is also situated in Nuwara Eliya. visit Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, Thereafter proceed to Nuwara

Eliya, visiting Ramboda waterfalls, a tea estate and factory en route. Dinner & over night stay in – Nuwara Eliya.

Day 07: NUWARA ELIYA – YALA

After breakfast proceed to Yala, afternoon safari at Yala National Park.

Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka. Actually it consists of five blocks, two of which are now open to the public; and also adjoining parks. The blocks have individual names also, like Ruhuna National Park for the (best known) block 1 and Kumana National Park or ‘Yala East’ for the adjoining area. It is situated in the southeast region of the country, and lies inSouthern Province and Uva Province. The park covers 979 square kilometres (378 sq mi) and is located about 300 kilometres (190 mi) fromColombo. Yala was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900, and, along with Wilpattu it was one of the first two national parks in Sri Lanka, having been designated in 1938. The park is best known for its variety of wild animals. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan Elephants and aquatic birds.

Day 08: YALA – KALUTARA/BENTOTA

After breakfast transfer Kalutara, En route visiting stilt fishermen – Weligama The Dutch

Fort – Galle, Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, Glass Bottom Boat Ride & visit to a Mask Factory.

After Breakfast spend the day at leisure on the beach. Dinner & over night stay in Kalutara.
