About Kandy: Embark on a sightseeing tour of Kandy which is a UNESCO world heritage site. The historic city, about 480m above sea level, is surrounded by mountains. It was known to Sri Lankans as Kanda Uda Rata, which means the hill country. Kandy was home to Sri Lanka’s last independent Kingdom, which survived two centuries of colonial incursion before finally falling to the British at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Visit the Temple of the Tooth, the royal Botanical Gardens, the Peradeniya University campus, and catch a panoramic view of the picturesque town from Upper Lake Drive. Early in the evening, visit a Kandyan Dance performance and be treated to a spectacular fire walking finale. Kandy is also famous for its shopping, gems and jewellery, handicrafts, batiks, silks etc. You will get the opportunity to shop to your heart’s content.

En route visit Pinawella Elephant Orphanage & a Spice Garden. Evening visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic & view cultural dance show. Overnight stay at Kandy.

Kitulgala, a small town in the west of Sri Lanka. It is in the wet zone rain forest, which gets two monsoons each year, and is one of the wettest places in the country. The Academy Award-winning The Bridge on the River Kwai was filmed on the Kelani River near Kitulgala, although nothing remains now except the concrete foundations for the bridge.
